Program details
The building of the New Tretyakov Gallery at Krymsky Val houses the unique permanent exhibition of Russian art of the 20th century. The works of the world famous masters of the Russian avant-garde of the 1900-1920s (K.S. Malevich, V.V. Kandinsky, M.Z. Chagall, P.N. Filonov, L. S. Popova) are neighbouring here with the works of socialist realism of the 1930s –1950s.
The art of the so-called "severe style" of the 1960s is demonstrated in parallel with the art of the representatives of the "underground", who laid the foundation for the "second wave" of the Russian avant-garde. The final part of the exposition, which presents works of the 1980s – 1990s, is fundamentally "open" in nature - the Tretyakov Gallery is ready to replenish its collection with the newest and most relevant works of Russian authors.
In addition, the halls of the Gallery are regularly holding various exhibitions of classical and contemporary art by domestic and foreign masters.
