Program details
The architectural ensemble of Pavlovsk palace and park is located 29 km from St. Petersburg. The Pavlovsk Palace was created in the heyday of Russian classicism - in the late 18th - early 19th centuries. The former residence of Emperor Paul I is a World Cultural Heritage Site and is under the protection of UNESCO. Some of the most outstanding architects, decorators and painters of the 18th - 19th centuries took part in the creation of the dover and the park: Charles Cameron, Vincenzo Brenna, Andrey Voronikhin, Giacomo Quarenghi, Carlo Rossi, Paolo Gonzago and others. Empress Maria Feodorovna herself worked on its inimitable appearance and interiors. The construction of the palace took almost 50 years. Walking through the palace, you will find out how it was created, take a look at the luxurious decoration of the ceremonial halls, and look into the private chambers of the royal family. We will talk about the everyday life, life and leisure of the Russian emperors.
After visiting the palace, which will amaze you with its harmony and refined taste, a walk through Pavlovsky Park awaits you. The Park of Pavlovsk boasts to be the largest landscape park in Russia and Europe. The real decorations of its territory are small architectural objects, located here and there, throughout the whole territory: the Pavilion of the Three Graces, the Temple of Friendship, the Pavilion of Roses, the Apollo Colonnade, the Monument to Parents, the Mausoleum of Paul I, the Bridge of the Centaurs, and the Cold Bath. You will see Maria Feodorovna's cozy private garden located under the windows of her private rooms. For several centuries, it only increased its beauty. The Pavlovsk Park combines picturesque ponds, woodlands, rose gardens, numerous bronze sculptures and beautiful bridges. It should be noted that all the sculptures in the park are originals. And every corner has an interesting story or legend.
