Program details
We invite you to the magnificent suburb of St. Petersburg - the Oranienbaum Palace, located in a small town of Lomonosov. The Big Menshikov Palace - former residence of Prince Menshikov - is located here, surrounded by a cozy park. The Big Menshikov Palace is one of the rare monuments of the Petrine era, that have survived to this day. The first owner of Oranienbaum was "the darling of happiness, a rootless, semi-powerful ruler", His Serene Highness Prince Alexander Menshikov. Later, the Palace belonged to Emperor Peter III, Empress Catherine II, the dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. You will visit the halls of Big Menshikov Palace named after its first owner. A tiny belvedere- tower still rises above the roof of the palace. From this tower Prince Menshikov could see Kronstadt through a telescope. The majestic appearance of the palace, its grandiose scale and rich interiors still cause admiration and surprise. Later on, you will also see (without internal visits) the Stone Hall, the Chinese Palace, the Roller Coaster Pavilion, the Honorable Gate of the Petershtadt Fortress, the famous stone bench of Catherine II. Absolute authenticity, conveying to us the atmosphere of bygone eras, is the main distinguishing feature of Oranienbaum - this unique architectural ensemble. During the excursion, you will have the opportunity to take many beautiful photographs, get acquainted with the magnificent palace interiors, stroll through the regular and landscape parks.
