Program details

In 2004, the charity foundation “Link of Times” acquired a collection of works of Faberge jewellers, which had been collected by media mogul Malcolm Forbes for almost half of a century. The announcement of the sale of the collection at Sotheby’s auction in early 2004 threatened that the collection would be scattered around the world among a dozen collectors. However, the unexpected cancellation of the auction, because of the acquisition of all items of the collection by russiaon billionaire Viktor Vekselberg, became an unprecedented case in the auction practice. From that moment on, the foundation began to form the world's largest collection of works by of Faberge, with the aim of further opening of several museums in Russia dedicated to the work of the outstanding master. The museum collection is based on the world's largest collection of works of Carl Faberge, which includes nine famous Imperial Easter eggs of incredible value. These are not only items of the highest jewelry craftsmanship, but also unique historical artifacts. Also in the collection of the museum - a collection of works of decorative and applied art, created by Russian masters in the second half of the XIX - early XX century. The museum is located in the Shuvalov Palace on the embankment of the Fontanka River - one of the most beautiful palaces in St. Petersburg, which once belonged to the famous noble families - the Vorontsovs, Naryshkins, Shuvalovs. The interiors of the palace have been restored by the "Link of Times" foundation in their historical form, and today the Shuvalov Palace itself is a real piece of art.
